How To Get A Credit Card

The first thing to do is to check all the credit card advertisements available in the media. These advertisements in newspapers, magazines, television, radio and the internet all carry a lot of information on different kinds of cards. The internet, particularly, houses credit card comparisons websites which are very useful when you are trying to make the right choice for a credit card.

Once you have decided on the one that best suits your requirements, you will need to fill out an application form either online or on paper. You will be asked to give the usual details of yourself such as: your full name and current address and your length of residence at that address; your date of birth; your marital status; your employment status and whether you are a homeowner. You will also need to supply financial details of your income and monthly outgoings and whether you have a mortgage or/and personal loan. Always remember to answer these questions on your financial status truthfully because your application might be rejected if you fail to do so.

When your application form has been received, your provider will carry out the customary credit search on you to ascertain your financial credibility on mortgages, personal loan/s and credit card/s that you have held in the past. Armed with this information and taking your monthly income and outgoings into account, the provider will then carry out a score to establish what your limit should be.

If your application has been accepted by the provider, you will receive your credit card along with the necessary information on its Terms and Conditions, in the next few days. Your PIN will follow shortly by separate post and you should make it a point to memorize it instead of writing it down. This way you are making sure that no one, be they known or unknown, will have an easy access to your account.
